ISCRS Testing Parameters
Benefits:
Full membership in ISCRS has the added benefit of provider referral listing on the ISCRS's web site. Testing services as a quality-control measure of all ISCRS members rehab implementation and administration skills.
Referral of patients and clients to high-quality rehab practitioners is one of the highest achievements in ISCRS and the goal for its lower-tiered affiliates.
Test Scheduling:
Testing will be by appointment only. Testing locations may be, but are not limited to, on-site at an ISCRS approved seminar or at the clinic of the test administrator.
Test scheduling will be made through ISCRS secretary at intscrs@gmail.com.
Testing Format:
Testing will be scheduled for a 30 minute time period.
Testing will be in an oral-practical format. A "mock" patient will be required and provided by the student, unless previous accommodations have been arranged (exp. testing at the clinic location). The test will determine satisfactory understanding and mastery of basic screens and exercises taught in the first 100 hours ISCRS rehab program or equivalent.
The test will include 4 random rehabilitation screens/test and 4 random exercises. Scoring will be 2 - 10 points per screen/exercise for a total of 80 points.
- 2 points for understanding/setup of each test or exercise, for a total of 16 points
- 6 points for proper understanding/setup and administration of each test/exercise, for a total of 48 points
- 2 points for the proper clinical determination, i.e. why one would use the test or exercise, for a total of 16 points
The final 20 points will be case management. This will involve a pre-determined condition which the student must correlate with three positive test/screens, a beginning exercise, a peel-back exercise and a progression exercise. The student will demonstrate what they would notice on the "mock" patient, the language they would use to prescribe the exercises and the clinical reasoning involved with the exercises peel-backs and progression.
- 1 point per proper screen/exercise for a total of 6 points
- 1 point for proper screen administration, per screen/exercise, on the mock patient for a total of 6 points
- 8 points total for explanation of the clinical reasoning of peel-back and progression of exercises pertinent to the condition.
The test will be randomly assigned from a pre-development battery of testing templates.
Scoring:
100 total points will be possible. Passing for membership status is 80 points. The student will know test results immediately after the test.

Test references are available from Liebenson's Rehabilitation of the Spine 2nd ed., Rehabilitation of the Spine 2nd ed. DVD, McGill's Low Back Disorders, 2nd ed., and the exercise record sheet. No references may be used during the testing.
